Yes.., We can play dota on ubuntu now.

I have tried with ubuntu 7.04 plus WINE (Wine Is Not Emulator). But I didn’t take wine from winehq, instead of I used from kambing repository.
Now, the last version of wine is wine 0.9.39, but from the kambing it’s wine 0.9.33. So if u want to follow me, make sure u have the same version of wine(0.9.33)

chox@orangemachine:~$ wine –version
wine-0.9.33

First, we have to install wine

chox@orangemachine:~$ sudo apt-get install wine

Then u must prepare the path directory of warcraft from windows partition. I meant, we had installed warcraft on windows partition. So we dont need install it again on ubuntu with wine. Or we can just copy it from your windows partition to your ubuntu partition.
Example, I had installed at E:/games/warcraft/ (on windows partition), on ubuntu that path refers to /media/hda6/games/warcraft (it means /media/hda6/ is my “E” partition on windows. Make sure for your own).

The last, you just make a launcher (a.k.a shortcut) from your ubuntu desktop
Right click(at your desktop) -> Create Launcher.

At Launcher Window:
- Type : Application
- Fill a name for your shortcut, ex DoTA
- Command : wine /media/hda6/games/warcraft/Frozen\ Throne.exe

Finished, we can play it just double click the “DoTA” launcher at your desktop.
