I have found the application (maybe) that can fulfil my needs for file download manager on my ubuntu machine.

Multiget file downloader is an easy-to-use GUI file downloader for Windows/Linux/BSDs/MacOs.
It’s programmed in C++ and has a GUI based on wxWidgets. It supports HTTP/FTP protocols which covers the requirements of most users. It supports multi-task with multi-thread on multi-server.
It supports resuming downloads if the Web server supports it, and if you like, you can reconfig the thread number without stopping the current task. It’s also support SOCKS 4,4a,5 proxy, ftp proxy, http proxy.

If you want install this program, open the terminal then input this command

sudo apt-get install multiget

Before Multiget, I used d4x. This application is still good enough for me, but we cann’t close it before we sure that we didnt need it again, coz we can not place it into the notification area (tray). So we will loose some space just for it on the panel (taskbar).

Different form d4x, Multiget still ready on the notification area(tray), we can close it without close the program, so we can save some space on the panel (taskbar).

Multiget can work together with firefox. We can setting from Flashgot, an add-ons for firefox. Flashgot can recognize this application, then we choose Multiget from the list.

And there is a area that we can download only drag n drop the link into that place. Its so simple.

But Multiget has a minus point. We can download only with 10 thread, cann’t more than that.

    2. Enter download manager name : Multiget
    3. Browse the location of multiget at /usr/bin
    Find multiget then click Open
    4. This is the important steps. insert [url=URL] [refer=REFERER] in the command line arguments place. That is for make flashgot can work together with multiget
